Government College of Education, Ratnagiri, a teacher’s training (B.Ed.) degree college of Ratnagiri District was established in 1965 by the Government of Maharashtra [vide Letter No. STC-2264G dated 26th May 1965] with a capacity of 80 students. As per NCTE Regulation 2014 now the course of two years with intake capacity of 50 students each year. It was carved out of the campus of Government College of Education, Ratnagiri, before acquiring an independent existence on a modest 10.2 acres of land.

   The Government College of Education, Ratnagiri, with its academic zeal, aims at providing quality teacher’s education to urban and rural students while augmenting their meaningful participation in both curricular and extra-curricular activities. The focus is on the process of teaching-learning in rural context with a sense of social responsibility. The college upholds the spirit of Humanism and strives to inculcate rationalism among its stakeholders. The College offers B.Ed. course with a dedicated staff of 06 teachers, including CHB and a healthy teacher-student ratio. The College is a temple of learning for every person and every faculty zealously endeavors and excels in disseminating knowledge, simultaneously preserving the motto-

  Government College of Education, Ratnagiri, is the only Government College in two districts namely Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. Also there is no aided teacher’s training college in these two districts. Many needy and aspirant student teachers are benefited through our college. Hence, we wish to set a benchmark in the field of education by providing latest techniques and technology by developing our infrastructure.
